Helping Our Neighbors in Waco & Central Texas Affected by the Federal Government Shutdown
Effective immediately, Mac’s Self Storage will waive all late fees and collection-related charges from the commencement of the government shutdown and offer rent deferment to verified federal government employees who are currently furloughed or working without pay as a result of the shutdown.
Mac’s Self Storage has proudly served Waco, China Spring, and the surrounding Central Texas communities since 1994, and we’ve built our business on trust, respect, and community support. During challenging times like this, we want our customers—especially those serving our nation—to know we stand behind them.
Whether you’re in between paychecks or waiting for government operations to resume, our goal is to give you one less thing to worry about.
How Our Government Shutdown Relief Program Works
We understand that a lapse in pay can create real financial stress, and the last thing anyone needs to worry about is losing access to their personal belongings. To help, we’ve implemented a Government Shutdown Relief Policy designed to provide temporary financial flexibility while protecting your stored items.
Here’s how it works:
- Rent Deferment: Affected tenants may defer rent payments through the first day of the month following the end of the shutdown.
- No Late or Collection Fees: No late fees, lien fees, or other collection process fees will be added during the deferment period.
- Access Policy During Deferment: While rent is deferred, unit access will be temporarily suspended until the balance is paid in full. However, no penalties or fees will accrue during this time, and access will be fully restored once payment is made.
This policy ensures that federal employees have breathing room during a difficult period—without the added stress of accumulating charges.
Who Qualifies
To qualify for rent deferment and fee relief:
- The primary account holder must be a federal government employee directly affected by the shutdown (furloughed or working without pay).
- Tenants must provide proof of employment and furlough status, such as:
- An official furlough notice from their agency,
- A recent federal pay stub showing suspended pay, or
- An official letter or email from their employer confirming unpaid status.
- Requests must be made in writing within 10 days of the policy initiation or payment due date to qualify.
